
Jennie Bae

Lyric coloratura soprano originally from South Korea, Jennie Bae is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts at Louisiana State University, where she studies with Robert Grayson and Paul Groves under a Graduate Assistantship. She is a recipient of a full tuition scholarship and is also a Baton Rouge Opera Guild Scholar. In November, she will perform as the cover for Susanna in LSU Opera Theater’s production of Le Nozze di Figaro. Most recently, she appeared as Oasis in Chabrier’s L’Étoile and was featured in the Rodgers & Hammerstein showcase Our Favorite Things.
In Spring 2025, Jennie served as an Instructor at LSU, teaching MUS 1002 (Beginning Voice Class) to undergraduate students. She is also the soprano soloist at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge, where she regularly performs sacred repertoire.
Jennie previously earned her Master of Music in Voice at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with Michelle DeYoung and was awarded a competitive Graduate Tuition Scholarship. During her time at IU, she performed roles such as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and appeared in productions including La Rondine.
She also participated in the Castleton Festival as a full-tuition scholarship recipient. Earlier, she appeared as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar in Germany and at Chung-Ang University, where she received her BA in Voice. In South Korea, Jennie held positions as a church soloist and choir director, presented numerous solo recitals, performed in opera choruses, and taught voice and piano to students of various ages. She currently teaches and mentors voice majors, minors, and musical theater students at LSU as part of her Graduate Assistantship, and also serves as an Associate Teacher at Phyllis & Friends Singing Lessons Studio.
