Berenice Carrera


An accomplished Ecuadorian mezzo-soprano, made her solo debut alongside the National Conservatory of Ecuador. Since then, she has performed in various esteemed platforms, including the Opera Express Company in Quito, Ecuador, the Eklund Opera at the University of Colorado Boulder, and the Turner Fisher Center for Opera at Louisiana State University as well as Opera in the Ozarks. Recognized for her exceptional artistry, Berenice emerged as a finalist in the prestigious 2024 Madame Rose Palmai-Tenser Competition. Recently, she brought to life the character of Bernarda Alba in the collegiate premiere of Griffin Candey’s “La Casa de Bernarda Alba.” Berenice is also a dedicated educator with a rich background in teaching. Before arriving in the United States, she ran a private studio in Ecuador, where she worked with both children and adults. Since 2022, she has been contributing her expertise to undergraduate students at LSU. Currently finalizing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at LSU, Berenice continues to refine her artistry under the tutelage of Dr. Lori Bade and Dr. Loraine Sims.
