BROG is happy to support the promotion of Opéra Louisiane’s “Tales of Hoffmann” at the River Center Theatre.
Opéra Louisiane returns to Raising Cane’s River Center with Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffman. Opéra Louisiane will present Tales of Hoffman at the Raising Cane’s River Center on Friday, June 24th at 7:30pm and Sunday, June 26th at 3pm. Featuring internationally acclaimed tenor Kirk Dougherty, soprano Laura León, and local favorite baritone Dennis Jesse. The Opéra Louisiane orchestra and chorus will be conducted by Artistic Director, Michael Borowitz.
Tales of Hoffman is based on a play by Jules Barbier and Michel Carre. The play takes the
German poet, E.T.A. Hoffmann, and makes him a character in some of his own, fanciful stories. Offenbach’s drama follows the same scheme, placing the title character into three, fanciful stories of failed love. The result is one of the grandest and most expressive of all 19th-century French operas — achieving a combination of emotional depth and musical brilliance that only the finest opera composers ever equaled.
Opéra Louisiane presents high quality, professional operatic performances, showcasing
internally acclaimed talent.
